Biography

Xiaoqi Chen is a professor at the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and a deputy director of the Future Manufacturing Research Institute. He is also a visiting professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University. Professor Chen's main research interests include intelligent manufacturing, advanced material processing, additive manufacturing, assisted robots for the disabled, automatic robot systems (ground vehicles, underwater robots, and drones), and automation. He has published more than 400 academic papers. Obtained 10 patents, edited 4 books, and made more than 100 keynote speeches at various academic conferences. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Manufacturing Engineering, served as the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Chapter of the American Institute of Manufacturing Engineering, and the founder of the IEEE Robotics and Automation New Zealand Division. Associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, Control and Intelligent Systems, and International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems.
