Biography
Professor  Ignaas Verpoest visited the Center for Smart Materials and Structures  (CSMS), and gave a talk about Recent Development In Research at The  Composite Materials Group of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven : From  Nano-engineered To Textile Composites.  Professor Ignaas Verpoest, from  the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (MTM) at  Katholieke Universiteit Leuven where he got his Masters degree (1972)  and PHD degree (1982). From 1997 to 2000, prof. Verpoest was President  of the European Society for Composite Materials (ESCM), and from 2003 to  2005, he was president of the International Committee on Composite  Materials.
His  research interest include Composite Materials (fibre reinforced  plastics), Textiles and Textile Based Composites, Innovative Processing  of Thermoplastic Composites, Fibre Reinforced Composites, Sandwich  Materials and Continuously Produced Honeycomb Cores (paper and plastic  based).
