Biography
Professor Lee is Professor of Aerospace Engineering Department in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Korea and Honorary Professor of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) in China. He is a Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is currently director-international of AIAA.
He obtained his Ph.D. in the field of aeroelasticity (fluid-structure-dynamics coupled problem) at Stanford University in 1986. He joined NASA Ames Research Center and performed the aeroelastic design of advanced aircrafts. He joined Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology as an assistant professor in 1987 and was promoted to a full professor in 1996. He worked as their departmental chair for four years. He had been a member of evaluation committees for the development of Scientific Satellite, multipurpose LEO satellites and rocket launch vehicles of Ministry of Science and Technology and the midsize passenger airplane, high-altitude airship and Korean Helicopter Program. He also served as a Failure Investigation Committee Chairman of Korean (Naro) Space Launch Vehicle in 2009-2010.
